The International Spiritualist Federation
How the ISF got its logo and badge
It was agreed at the 1981 Congress to adopt a new symbol which would epitomise the aspirations of the I.S.F.
However nothing happened for two years until the 1983 Fraternal Week which was held at Stansted Hall in Essex, England. Two I.S.F. members were sitting next to each other at a lecture. They both started to sketch and then realised that uppermost in both their minds was to create a simple design but one which truly represented the International Spiritualist Federation.
They combined their ideas and so produced the design that is now recognised all over the world.
The object of the I.S.F. is to spearhead the interaction and exchange of spiritual knowledge and understanding around the world. This is symbolised by the spearhead (I.S.F.) crossing all five linked circles representing the five continents in harmony with each other. It also represents the five elements of Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Spirit. This part of the badge is in a silver colour to represent Mercury, the messenger, winging his way around the world.
The blue background is the sky and all that lies beyond this material world.
If the result reminds you of a flower, may it blossom forth and bear fruit in all lands.
