SPIRIT CAT - the Ghost of a Cat?
Letters to the Editor
Dear Lyn,
Congratulations on the first issue of Spiritual News. I enjoyed reading it and living in Brighton there were a couple of articles I could identify with. Being a newspaper for Spiritualism it is ideal, and I prefer it to Psychic News. I thought I would contribute a story of a recent experience.
On my way to the Wednesday evening service at Edward Street SNU Church in Brighton in March this year. I was aware that contact with the spirit world was a possibility. However I did not expect to have it before I reached the church! It was a windy evening. It was getting dark. I was late as usual walking with my head down. I took a short cut through the Pavilion Gardens. I was approaching the North entrance when a black and white cat walked through the side gate towards me. I went over bent to stroke it. The cat then jumped to climb over a fence and disappeared in mid air. I was walking up Edward Street thinking about what I had seen. I think it was the spirit of George, the Pavilion cat. George was a beautifully marked black and white cat that wandered in off the street into the Pavilion in the seventies. He was fed and looked after by the Pavilion staff, and became a hit as a local celebrity in Brighton. He slept on an embroidered blanket. When George eventually passed away, he was buried in the Pets Cemetery at Preston Manor. George was the subject of a childrens book. George, the Pavilion cat by Judy Pennington. He probably had such a close association with the Pavilion in life that his spirit is still attached to the place. Anyway, I carried on to the church and there was a remarkable ‘coincidence’. The medium that evening John Carol, in his address, talked about animals in the spirit world!
Well there you have it. My first visible encounter with the spirit world. I hope it is of interest.
All the best,
Love Light and Truth
